January 25, 2009... Sadie is doing WONDERFUL!! She has been off all medication for several months now & is doing fine!! She's doing so well, that she went to visit her foster grandparents at Christmas and did great! She traveled 7 hours in the car with no problems at all. My husband's nephews (ages 7 & 12) were there and she did fine with them. Everyone thought she was a great dog & just didn't understand why she hadn't been adopted yet. She has become even more playful & LOVES to go for walks now. She gets so excited about them now that she has a tendency to pull on the leash a little, but we're working on that. She loves to run around in the back yard & chase tennis balls, Frisbees or whatever you throw for her. She'll bring them to you, but is not so good about letting go of them yet, but we're working on that too - she's still young. She's a great snuggler! She loves to get under a blanket & snuggle with you.
She's a real sweet girl & has overcome so much since we've had her. For someone who is willing to work with her & give her a little more training, she will become a great forever friend.
October 7, 2008 ... Sadie’s foster mom is proud to report that Sadie is making progress. She is on an anti-anxiety and an antiobiotic. She is still skittish but much more social and engaged. She even had her FIRST solid poop! Hooray for Sadie!! Sadie's stomach is feeling much better and she is finally able to eat a regular dog food without any trouble!
September 17, 2008 ... Because she is still extremely skiddish, nervous, timid, etc. we thought that perhaps anxiety could be an underlying cause of her problem. We discussed this with the vet and she thought Zanex would be worth a try. She is going to give me some exercises to work on with Sadie to see if we can't help her with some her anxiety issues.
We're happy to report that she has her appetite back and stopped vomiting. We've see some improvement as far as the diarrhea is concerned...she hasn't had to go immediately after eating. As for her reaction to the Zanex, we have noticed that while she is still skiddish, she is more playful. She is a work in progress. Everyone please keep your fingers crossed for this sweet girl!!! We need to all better so she can find her forever home!!
August 7, 2008... The results of Sadie's blood test showed she's negative for the pancreatic enzyme difficency, so we still don't know exactly what's going on with her. The vet thinks that it may be a bacterial infection. She wants us to keep her on the z/d food and the 3 medications (metronidazole, Amoxitabs & prilosec) for 2 weeks. That should take care of it. However, she has already consulted an internist about what to try next if doesn't work. All we can do now is wait. So keep your fingers crossed & keep her in your prayers!!!!!
July 24, 2008... Sadie's diarrhea has gotten worse. She is losing weight and not eating. When she does eat it goes right through her. Sometime she doesn't even get half of her food down before she needs to go. She is still passing blood each time. She is still having accidents since she doesn't have much control of her bowel movements. She needs a mal digestive test ASAP to figure out what is going on. This test costs around $200.
June 15, 2008... Sadie finished the 10 days of medicine & special food for her diarrhea and, while she is doing much better, it's not completely gone. At least she's not having accidents anymore and she's sleeping through the night. We'll keep her on the food and see how she does. She seems to have adjusted to the food very well - no problems eating at all!
She's become more playful since she's feeling better. She loves to play ball and frisbee and sometimes run around the yard with her fur brother Chubby & fur sister Lily. She went to the beach for the first time yesterday and seemed to enjoy it! She had no problem going into the water; she actually likes it much more than Chubby. We thought the crowds at the beach might be a little too much for her because she is still very shy & timid, but she did well. Her most favorite thing to do though, is snuggle! She loves to lay with me and a get under a blanket and snuggle. Sometimes when she's under the blanket Chubby thinks she's trying to hide from him so he likes to try & find her. When he does it becomes a big wrestling match!:-) All in all she's great.
May 18, 2008... Sadie is a pretty 11-month-old girl. She's good with cats and other dogs. She does well with teenagers but needs to go to a home without small children. More info coming soon!
