RUSTY
June 3, 2009...  Rusty has to be the quietest boxer, maybe dog, I've ever been with !! NO barking.. He actually picked up a toy monkey for the first time, and walked with it from one room to the other. He is soo sweet & gentle. He asks for nothing more than a gentle pet. For anyone who's looking for a quiet devoted companion, Rusty would be him. He's just laid back, & listens well. I think he'd appreciatate a quieter household. He doesn't seem to need another dog or playmate, or much room to run. He does love his whipped cream !! That's one way to get them to sit nicely:)

May 6, 2009...  He is settling in very nicely, such a very quiet boy. He is very gentle, and his big brown eyes just pull you in.  He just wants to be you. He doesn't care to play with my girls, and that's fine.  As the former mom said, he's house trained, and crates fine, although he needs a litttle nudge. He aims to please, and sometimes needs a firm repeat, if you're asking  him  to move away. He sleeps very nicely on a floor bed.He just seems to want a quiet place to settle. He's stolen my heart already, and I only got him Saturday :)

April 12, 2009...  If you're looking for a laid back dog who just likes to hang out, you will LOVE Rusty.  He doesn't have a hyper bone in his body.  He gets along well with female dogs provided that they like him.  I had one male in the home for a short period of time and he did not tolerate him very well.  I just kept them separated.   He doesn't care about "rough" play.  My female tried to play with him many times without success.  He rarely barks.  The only time was when he knew I was home and I had not gotten him out of the crate yet.  He's a leaner...leans up against you.  He obeys you.  If you'll let him sleep in your bed, he'd love it but if you don't want him up there, he will stay down.  He loves affection.  He wants to be wherever you are.  He is crate trained although he needs a nudge to go in the crate and has sometimes figured out how to unlock the gate.  If you have a male in the home, he will mark for a day or two until you've fussed at him a few times.  I have 3 children in the home, ages 13, 11, and 8.  He slept with them in their bed at times. He is great with children.  He's so calm that he doesn't jump on them or anything.

February 3, 2009...  Rusty is a sweet sad soul.  He just looks up at you with those big brown eyes wanting to be petted.  He was fine with the cats last night when we came in, but he was pretty drugged up from being neutered.  I’ll get him more around them over the weekend.  He pretty much laid around last night  in the crate.  I did have to push him in it, as he’s not very fond of it. However, once in it, you do not hear a peep out of him.  This morning, I took him outside and let him do his business, as well as let the rest of the crowd out to meet him.  Shelby (female boxer in the foster home) can’t get over him.  She keeps trying to get him to play with her.  Rusty even followed all of the dogs back in through the doggy door.  He was fine with Blu (CBR puppy available for adoption) crawling all over him and all Max (CBR puppy available for adoption) wants to do is to lick his face for him. He seems to tolerate everything (so far) in my house.  He even didn’t eat Blu up when Blu decided to get in his food bowl this morning.  I had put his bowl in his crate and when he didn’t eat it in there, I put it outside where Rusty ended up sharing his meal with Blu.

He is a big leaner and loves to have his head scratched.   I’ll have more updates as I get to know him.  I think he’ll come out of his shell more as he’s able to get around in the house more.  He’s VERY emaciated.  He could stand to gain 15 or so lbs.  I can count every rib right now.
