December 7, 2008... Max continues to grow, more out than up. He is a sweet little thing with such a wonderful personality. He is learning what he can and cannot chew and he is picking up commands pretty quickly. Max would love to have a new family for the holiday season. He's been writing up his wish list for Santa Claus and a forever home is on the top of that list. Although he might not be a full boxer, he is a boxer at heart and would love to be under your tree this season.
November 7, 2008... Max continues to grow into a sweet little boy. He is totally fearless of anything that he comes across. He has regained his hearing so he knows the warning signs from the female boxer in the house when she has "had too much". He is totally crate trained and is also paper trained if left in the house too long during the day. Due to him still being a puppy, he is contained in a bathroom during the day while his foster mom is at work, but will go on the paper to do his business.
Max would be a great addition to any family. He walks good on a leash, knows Sit and is working on other basic commands that his attention span will allow. He LOVES to chew on toys and his foster mom is working on teaching him what are his toys and what are her shoes. LOL............Max is looking for a great family to give him a forever place to put his head. He says he might not be a purebred boxer, but he's ALL boxer in his heart! Oh, and he's a talker...........he will talk your head off.
October 30, 2008... Max is doing great in the house with Shelby (female boxer). He is totally fearless of Shelby and will be rough and tumble with her like a big dog. When she tires of him, she will either jump on the bed or go out the doggy door. Max is extremely smart. In the course of one night, I have taught him to sit. Also, he has figured out how to get up the stairs that I had for Molly to get on the bed, so when Shelby jumps up on the bed now, Max is right behind her. I have to state that I think that Max does have some hearing. Here are two examples and why I think so. Max has figured out the sound that the doggy door makes when Shelby comes back in the house. This morning Shelby was outside and Max was back in the bathroom with me. I heard Shelby come barging through the doggy door, and so did Max. His ears perked up and he runs into the living room. Then, later on, Shelby and I were in the bedroom and I heard max in the den into something. I screamed out, "Max, come in here!". He immediately comes running like he has been doing nothing. Coincidence? I'll let you know more later as I figure this one out. But somewhere, I think he has hearing..........
October 25, 2008... This is Max. He is a 8-12 week old puppy that may or may not be a boxer mix - we really aren't sure. Max was brought to a local shelter after being abused. Max was hit in the head so hard that it damaged his hearing... but not his spirit. The shelter was so touched by this little boy that they sent out many e-mails in search of some help. CBR had a foster home that was able to take him in and so far they have found a very playful, energetic puppy. The vet said that he would be deaf as a result of his head trauma, but he does seem to react to some sounds. He is very smart and loves to play with the other dogs. He does well in his crate and is extremely cute. More to come on Max as we get to know him!!
