Mahalo (aka Louise)
January 15, 2009...  Mahalo was very cautious around the cat. She was much more interested in me petting her than in the cat though. I wouldn't leave her around them unsupervised until she was very comfortable in the new environment. She wants to please so with a little guidance she will be fine around them. If anything, she's a little scared of them. Also, recently she's become slightly food aggressive. Every once in a while her and Legend will scuffle a little bit over food but with verbal reprimand she backs off immediately. I'm not sure what suddenly brought this on, and it's not all the time. It happens very sporadically. Also, she will not do well if left alone for long periods of time, I have never met a dog that wants to be loved on so much. I spend hours with her just sitting in my lap rubbin' her head. :) She is gonna be SO hard to give up. She is truly an angel.

January 5, 2009...  Mahalo has started to gain some weight! She looks great! Her coat is getting it's shine back. She seems to be very happy and even a little playful. The only thing that I have noticed about her is that she is very nervous at times. My dad visited last Friday (he's a large man and he had a level in his hand to hang pictures) and he scared her pretty badly! However, she never reacts in an aggressive way at all. When introducing her into new environments, I'd definitely do it slowly without too many new things at once. She's still getting along with Legend (my male boxer) very well. She has also been around several small dogs lately. She doesn't seem to show much interest in them, when people are around she could care less what dogs are around! If they bark a lot, it makes her nervous but she was not aggressive towards them. She's the most loyal dog I have ever seen; she just wants to be on my lap, and she'll make a great addition to any home!

December 22, 2008....  OK, Louise/Lily is being renamed one more time.  CBR already has a Lilly and it was getting confusing!  So her foster mom picked a new name, Mahalo, which means "thank you".  Mahalo is doing very well and is recovering from being spayed.

December 15, 2008...  Louise has made it to her foster home and has been renamed Lily.   Lily is the sweetest dog I have ever seen and she's done great with my dog, Legend.  I could not have received a better dog for my first foster experience!

December 10, 2008...  I went to visit Thelma and Louise today.  The staff at the boarding facility said that they are just the sweetest girls!!  I did a temp test with a cat today and both did great!!  Thelma was a bit more curious than Louise, but in a playful way.  They have gotten baths and have been eating well!  They already look so much better than they did on Saturday!!  Hopefully we can move them into foster homes soon!!

December 6, 2008....  Thelma and Louise are 2 brindle beauties on an adventure together.  This duo wound up in a shelter and were rescued by CBR in the nick of time.  CBR did not have any open foster homes and we were forced to board these girls in order to save them!  They are sweet, happy dogs!  They were tested with other dogs at the shelter and did well.  The staff said that they just wanted to play with the other dogs.  They rode well in the car on the way to the boarding facility.  I was given an abundance of boxer kisses and saw plenty of wiggling!!  We are in desperate need of foster homes for these dogs.  It is very expensive to board them and it is money that could be instead used to treat their heartworm disease (both are heartworm positive and will need treatment).  They are good girls who deserve a second chance.  Please consider opening your heart and home this holiday season to foster one of these girls!  More to come as I get to know them!  I plan on visiting them on Wednesday to go for a walk, play and get more pics!!
