July 28, 2009... Riley has been feeling better with his “man issues” lately. On top of heartworms he also has a large fatty lump on his left thigh and some smaller under the skin lumps that will need to be removed when he gets neutered. As for his eyes, he has one brown inner lid and one pink. He did have a real case of conjunctivitis when he was rescued but that has cleared up and he’s back to normal ‘pink eye’ again. In a month of foster care Riley has learned the rules of the house. He knows to sit by his water bowl to wait for his meals and to stay until told he can eat. Riley sits when coming back from a morning walk to have his leash removed prior to entering the house. He knows basic commands such as Sit, Stay, Down, Off. Riley is left uncrated with Ruby (his foster sister) when no one is at home and does great. He gets along great with the neighborhood kids (10+ years and up) that stop by to visit. He is very friendly and curious. His favorite activity is to play catch with the tennis ball. For a few goldfish crackers he will happily take a bath, have his ears cleaned and even his teeth brushed. He likes to give kisses and will rest his chest on your lap, hug your waist with his paws and shake his nub.
June 6, 2009... Riley hasn't been feeling so great lately. He has had some "man issues" - mainly swelling which has been very slow to respond to treatment. He has had several trips to the vet, including an ER vet visit and his medical bills are getting quite large. While Riley's medical issue is not life threatening, it is very painful for him and we want to be able to do all we can to get it treated. This problem will likely never occur again after he has been neutered. But, we need to get the swelling down before this can happen. Riley also has to be treated for heartworms. Please consider donating to his care so we can continue to help Riley with his current, painful medical issue and so we can get him neutered and treated for heartworms! Thanks!!
June 18, 2009... Riley has been in a home before. He is house trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands such as sit, stay, down. He will need some work with leash walking, but we'll work on that! He has a great personality and is affectionate. Likes to play a lot and is very energetic. He is a bit jumpy at times and can’t seem to get the knack of walking on wood floors which means he ice skates a lot. He VERY food motivated, he could stand to put on a few pounds. So far, he gets along well with my female dog. Riley is about 8 years old.
