FRANKY

August 30, 2009...  We picked up Franky on August 2.  Franky was very emaciated and had a big belly.  She was believed to be part of a puppy-mill outside of Raleigh. :(  Franky back legs seem a little weak from having so many litters in the past and she has a different colored ring around her neck where a collar appears to have been placed to tight for her.  Three days later we took her to the vet and found out she was having puppies.  The vet believes Franky is 2-3 years old, and weighed 71 lbs.  We also found out she was HW+.  She was unable to have any shots due to her pregnancy.  Two days later, Friday, August 7, she started having her pups.  Franky had a total of twelve puppies!  Two of her puppies were still born, and another three didn't make it.  :(  Seven puppies remain.  Franky's weight dropped to 51 lbs.  We fed her puppy chow and wet food (she loves!) and she now weighs 65 lbs and looks healthier.  Franky is a great mom and is still nursing her pups and cleaning.  She loves to be outside with our other two dogs, and if she finds you sitting outside she will run over an nuzzle her head in your arms wanting some love and pats.  She is a sweetie.  We hope to have her treated for HW and spayed soon after her pups are weaned.
